Intentionally Reading More

I’ve been trying to keep the television turned off more lately.  Instead, I want to finish creative projects, read more, and spend more time with people…that is when I’m not at derby practice.  I want to be more intentional with my time and energy.

Currently, I am in the process of reading different 3 books.  I’d probably finish them much faster if I focused on one at a time, but they are for 3 different reasons.  And I have 3 more ready in the wings!

1. The Lady of the Rivers by Philippa Gregory.  Is one I’m reading for fun, and the one I’m closest to being finished with.  It’s a historical fiction novel about Jacquetta, Duchess of Bedford.  She is a lady in waiting and best friend to the Queen of England, Margaret of Anjou, during the War of the Roses.  I’ve read most of Gregory’s books, and love how she brings the personalities of these historical women to life.

2. Deep & Wide Creating Churches for the Unchurched People to Love and Attend by Andy Stanley.  This is one that I am reading, along with several other staff members at work, that is refreshing to my soul.  It reminds me why I do what I do, and why I try to show people love and acceptance to those who don’t really feel like they’d be accepted at a church.  God’s love is bigger that four walls, or closed minded “religious” people.

3. The Accidental Creative: How to be brilliant at a moment’s notice by Todd Henry.  This is another one I’m reading mainly for work, but also for personal growth.  I love how it’s helping me bridge the gap between my creative muscles for work and for fun, and learn how to use them both at the same time.

What are you reading???
