Mondays Menagerie {4}

A weekly wrap up of all the random things I’ve been enjoying this past week.  Things I loved, or learned something from, things I think others might enjoy too.  I hope you appreciate them as well…and so, here are my weekly top 5 favorite things:

1. This video (#LikeA Girl) has been floating around the internet this week a lot, most of you have probably seen it, but if you haven’t yet it’s worth 3 minutes of your time.  I’m not sure how it is with other sports, but with Roller Derby the concept of what it means to be a girl is challenged.  And I see confidence grow and change in younger girls as well as older women.

2.  Ever wonder what the difference is between Baking Soda and Baking Powder?  I have!  I stumbled across this great info from @chowandchatter that explains it all so clearly.  And knowing is half the battle!

3.  Last Monday this GIF came across my feed from RDJunkies featuring Bill Coulter AKA Jack Hammer’D, he skates for Mass Maelstrom and Team USA.  I watched in amazement, thankful that I would never be good enough to skate against that beast of a man.  Tuesday I was not feeling well, but I showed up to practice just to cheer on my friend at her very first scrimmage.  And guess who walks through the door!  I peed my pants a little bit then thankfully remembered that I was not skating that night since I was feeling awful.  Whew!  Turns out though, that he’s super nice.

Freedom Celebration4. The Freedom Celebration at my church, New River Community Church.  Each year, on the Sunday evening closest to July 4th we have a big community celebration.  It’s kind of like a tailgate…minus the beer…adding some baptisms.  It’s a laid back evening with free hot dogs, music and fireworks.  And this year we had a special bonus…Pelican Snoballs!  My new favorite!!!  This picture is before the crowd really showed up.  And the weather was perfect!

5. And last but not least…how I wasted so much of my time this weekend: #DeadWhiteAndBlue which, for those of you who don’t know, was The Walking Dead marathon.  It’s not for everyone, but I’ve definitely gotten sucked into this series.
